In North Carolina, a new state law (
S.L. 2005-35) went into effect yesterday that makes breaking into a place of worship a felony instead of a misdemeanor.
WRAL News yesterday reported that Sampson County played a leading role in getting the law enacted. Last year, 62 churches in the county were broken into, vandalized of looted. With news about the new law, there have been only 5 or 6 church break-ins this year.
