In Bulgaria, popular nationalist politician
Volen Siderov, chairman of the
National Union Attack party, recently met with the acting head of the
Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Bishop Kiril, promising legislation to restore properties of the Church that were nationalized in 1945.
The Sofia Weekly reported on Tuesday that Siderov and the Bishop have also discussed introducing religious studies in schools, and proposals to make the Orthodox Church Bulgaria's official religion.
