Russian Orthodox Church Wants UN To Reocognize Problem of "Christianophobia"

Interfax reports today that the Russian Orthodox Church has asked this week's Durban Review Conference (World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance) being held in Geneva to add the notion of "Christianophobia" to the world's lexicon. Archpriest Georgy Ryabykh, deputy head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, says UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon mentioned anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in his opening remarks at the Conference, but made no mention of insults to Christians and violation of their rights. We must pray for the conversion of Russia. They will be the agent of Divine change.

There is definately a growing trend towards 'Christianophobia,' but I think that it's source at least in the west is a larger religiophobia.

It has all been foretold by the prophets! We should not be surprised at all. The UN is atheist so I don't see how they can help. It is up to the Pope to consecrate Russia so we need to pray for him to do it.

Being a Pagan, I have certainly seen what I've called "Christophobia" though I suppose "Christianophobia" is the proper term. I think the strong fear of Christians (justified or not) is a hindrance to a Pagan's religious growth. Maybe the same can be said in other religious traditions about fear of a specific other religion.
