UN Climate Summit Will Not Have Christmas Trees

Friday's Copenhagen Post reports that the international summit on climate change that opens in Copenhagen, Denmark today will be religiously neutral. Denmark's foreign minister rejected a sponsorship that would have provided a number of Nordmann fir trees as decorations for the entrance of Bella Center, where the conference is being held. Foreign Ministry spokesman Svend Olling said: "We have to remember that this is a UN conference and, as the centre then becomes UN territory, there can be no Christmas trees in the decor, because the UN wishes to maintain neutrality."
