Canada's Supreme Court Will Decide Niqab In Court Case

Canada's Supreme Court this week granted leave to appeal in N.S. v. Her Majesty the Queen, (leave granted, March 17, 2011). In the decision below, Ontario's highest appellate court held that a judge conducting a preliminary inquiry in a criminal case has discretion whether or not to permit a Muslim woman to testify with her face covered.
