In Canada, Quebec's Soccer Federation has told a 15-year old Muslim girl that she cannot continue her summer job as a soccer game referee wearing her hijab (head scarf).
Canadian Press reported yesterday that teenager Sarah Benkirane hopes to convince the Canadian Soccer Federation to put pressure on its Quebec affiliate. The Quebec Federation says it is merely applying FIFA rules that bar officials from displaying personal, religious or commercial messages.
