Mary Ann Glendon Appointed To USCIRF
On Wednesday, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell appointed Mary Ann Glendon to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, according to a press release from USCIRF. Glendon is Professor of Law at Harvard University, President of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, and former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See. One vacancy, to be filled by President Obama, remains on the 9-member Commission. When USCIRF was reauthorized late last year, the authorizing legislation required 5 of its commissioners to resign.
