Pope's Butler Formally Indicted In Document Leak
Radio Vatican reported yesterday that Pope Benedict XVI's former butler, Paolo Gabriele, has been formally charged with, and will stand trial for, grand theft in the leaking of private documents about the Pope and other Curia officials to the press. The full text of the indictment in Italian is available online. Apparently Gabriele has confessed to furnishing the documents to Italian Journalist Gianluigi Nuzzi, saying that he believed the Pope was ill-informed of evil and corruption in the church.
