Iran Sentences Pastor To 8 Years In Prison
Reuters reported yesterday that Iranian-American Christian pastor Saeed Abedini has been sentenced to 8 years in prison by an Iranian court after his attorney had only one day to present his defense to charges of threatening Iran's national security through his leadership in Christian house churches. A U.S. State Department spokesman said: "We condemn Iran's continued violation of the universal right of freedom of religion and we call on the Iranian authorities to respect Mr. Abedini's human rights and release him."
