Hungarian Parliament Passes Constitutional Amendment Giving Parliament Power To Recognize Religious Communities
Deutsche Welle reports that yesterday the Hungarian parliament passed a package of Constitutional amendments. Among other things, they limit the power of the country's Constitutional Court. They also effectively overrule a Constitutional Court decision handed down last month (see prior posting). That decision invalidated Hungary's Law on Legal Status of Churches that required all but 14 traditional faiths to apply to Parliament for recognition.
