Last week, the Freedom From Religion Foundation again protested to the U.S. State Department over the design of U.S. passports. (
Press release.) The passport, redesigned in 2007, includes a quote on each page aimed at "reflecting the hope and success that is the United States of America." (
Background.) In its letter (
full text) to the State Department, FFRF raised Establishment Clause concerns about four of the quotes which explicitly mention "God." It also made a Freedom of Information Act request for documents relating to decisions on the redesign.
