ABNA report that last Thursday in New York City, a Muslim woman, Carolyn Walker-Diallo, was sworn in as a civil court judge of the 7th Municipal District in Brooklyn, using a Qur'an instead of a Bible for the ceremony. Walker-Diallo who has been active in local politics and community development, wore a headscarf during the ceremony. Coming at a time of heightened anti-Muslim rhetoric from some quarters in the U.S., social media reaction to the swearing-in was mixed.
