Reuters reported yesterday that in Turkey, 492 staff members have been removed from their positions at the Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet) on suspicion of involvement in the recent coup attempt against President Tayyip Erdogan. The Diyanet employs over 100,000 people. Turkey's government claims that cleric Fethullah Gulen was behind the coup. Gulen, who now lives in the United States has denied the charges. (
