The Forward report that on Tuesday the European Parliament lifted the legal immunity of Jean-Marie Le Pen, former head of France's far-right National Front Party. The move allows French prosecutors to put Le Pen on trial for inciting racial hatred. The charges stem from a 2014 interview video posted on the National Front website in which Le Pen countered criticism from singer Patrick Bruel, who is Jewish, by using a reference to the Nazi gas chambers. Le Pen said Bruel should "go in the oven."
