New Kentucky Law Authorizes Bible Courses In Schools

On April 11, Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin signed HB 128 (full text) which requires the Kentucky State Board of Education to create courses on the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), the New Testament, and on both. The law provides that the purposes of these courses are to teach students the biblical content, characters, poetry, and narratives required to understanding contemporary society and culture, including literature, art, music, mores, oratory, and public policy.
