Yesterday the Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Statistics released (
press release) a report on
Hate Crime Victimization, 2004-2015. The data taken from its National Crime Victimization Survey showed that on average 250,000 people per year were hate crime victims, and until 2015 a majority of these were not reported to police. During 2011-2015, religious bias accounted for 17% of the perceived hate crimes. Racial bias accounted for 48%.
