Supreme Court Stays Execution Of Prisoner Denied A Chaplain In the Execution Chamber
The U.S. Supreme Court today granted a stay of execution pending its decision on whether to grant review in Gutierrez v. Saenz. Ruben Gutierrez's execution was scheduled for today. In the case the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a stay of execution that had been granted to a convicted murderer who complained about Texas' exclusion of chaplains from the execution chamber.
