New York City Schools Will Close On Two Muslim Holidays

NBC News reports that yesterday New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, fulfilling a campaign promise, announced that two Muslim holidays would be recognized on the city's school calendar.  Schools will be closed on Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr.  It is estimated that 10% of the students in the New York City public schools are Muslim.  City schools are already closed on major Christian and Jewish holidays.
