House Passes Equality Act To Ban LGBTQ Discrimination

The U.S. House of Representatives last Friday passed H.R. 5, the Equality Act (full text) by a vote of  236-173 (largely along party lines). The bill, which now goes to the Senate, amends various federal anti-discrimination laws to provide that the ban on sex discrimination includes sexual orientation and gender identity.
