At 11:00 AM today, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrissey-Berru (SCOTUSblog case page), and St. James School v. Biel (SCOTUSblog case page). In the cases, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals held that the Catholic school teacher in each of the cases was not prevented from bringing an employment discrimination lawsuit. The 9th Circuit held that they are not "ministers" for purposes of the "ministerial exception" doctrine.
