Cert. Petition Filed In Challenge To Differential NY Child Protection Safeguards For Private Schools

A petition for certiorari (full text) was filed with the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday in U.L. v. New York State Assembly.  In the case, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals rejected 1st and 14th Amendment challenges to New York's statutory exclusion of private schools (including religious schools) from some of the state child protection requirements that are mandatory in public schools.
