Cert. Granted In Dispute Over Refusal To Create Cake For Same-Sex Wedding
The U.S. Supreme Court today granted review in Masterpiece Cake Shop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, (Docket No. 16-111, cert. granted 6/26/2017). (Order List). In the case, a Colorado Court of Appeals held that a bakery owner's free exercise and free speech rights were not infringed when the Colorado Civil Rights Commission found that the refusal to create a wedding cake for a same-sex couple violates Colorado's public accommodation law (See prior posting.)
